Late last night, February 18, park rangers were notified of an overdue 54-year-old female from Estes Park, Colorado. A family member found her car at the Bear Lake parking lot, but it was unknown where she may have hiked or snowshoed to. Rangers and family members stayed in the Bear Lake area until after midnight.
Early this morning, Sunday, February 19, park rangers searched the Nymph, Dream and Emerald Lake areas as well as trails leading to Odessa Lake. The woman was found around 10:00 a.m. roughly 3 miles up the summer trail to Odessa Lake, on the north side of Flattop Mountain. She was breathing but was unconscious and unresponsive. St. Anthony Flight for Life landed in the area at 10:45 a.m. and she was flown to St. Anthony Central at 11:00 a.m.
